Still on the Quest

Sooo, I'm driving down to Albuquerque for a wedding, and after a lovely side trip to a volcano near Raton, I notice that it's raining here and there. And pretty soon there are a few spatters on the windshield. And then a few more. And then somewhere, someone dumped over a Very Large Bucket and visibility dropped to really really not very far at all. Quite exciting!

( And then it got a little TOO exciting. )

It's O'dark'thirty, and I should be trying to snatch a few more minutes before we all get up and start colliding in search of showers and breakfast before dashing down to City Park to meet the professional photographer who is going to take the picture that is the whole point of the expedition. Mind you, there have been a lot of pictures already.

Memo to self. Do not take connecting flights. Even if they're cheaper. You will end up in JFK airport, staring at the walls and waiting for the air traffic controllers there to clear out the debris of a long day of thunderstorms...

It is now odarkthirty, and the taxicab driver did his best to rip me off. Silly bugger - all he did was eat his tip with the farebox. But I am home, and my bed is calling... I will tackle the flist tomorrow. Probably. If I don't sleep until Saturday, anyway.

Flying is one of the stranger things people do, and it's not just because we don't have wings. You go to the airport ridiculously early and skim through all of the obstacles that were the reason you came early without any delay at all, then sit in a waiting area getting gradually stiffer before you plan to go into a big box and sit confined for several hours. Then you get in the box, strap yourself in, get subjected to noise and boredom until your brains begin to leak and while you're stunned they rearrange the planet. Very strange.

(Although I must say the mousie at Logan Airport did provide some amusement this time. It wasn't a local mouse -- they are small and grey with more tail than body. This mouse was sleek and tan, a hare-mouse to Boston's rabbit-mice. Not afraid of people, apparently. I'll admit to wishing it well in its efforts to avoid capture.)

Frustrated, as my sister's computer won't seem to let me into either my hotmail account or my gmail account, but I fooled it into cooperating here, at least.

*waves at people who wanted to know when I got in*

Well, I saw an internet kiosk at the airport and I couldn't resist waving and checking my flist. I'll have internet access, just not often. So see ya occasionally and Merry Christmas if my plans don't work out the way I think they will!

Well, that was a long strange weekend.

Some internet, but it's pay by the minute so I can't catch up with my flist (And it's very public, so there's a ton of stuff I'm not reading...*sigh*)

I got sick on the plane, and am still feeling iffy, so am spending the con in the video room... It's kind of fun remembering all these old episodes of Dr. Who.

Off to California for a few days. May have internet there, may not...

Airports are boring when you have to show up 90 minutes early and then fly through security...
