Took my massive kickoff dose of synthroid this morning, and wandered over to the chowderfest. Many interesting chowders, several with too much salt or pepper for my taste, but still some good ones. I got home and my stomach inquired impolitely about just *what* I thought I was doing putting all that rich food into it after two weeks of the bland, of course.

I'm still not quite right, but at least I don't feel as draggy as yesterday. I may try writing later. Maybe. Or sleeping...

today is the last day of the diet... the last day I go without any kind of thyroid supplement... I slept nearly twelve hours last night, and I've already napped once and the hours stretch before me like... like... hours and hours and hours...

Spam me! I need things to do which require very few braincells, but kill a lot of time.

They didn't find any. *modified rapture*

But let me just say that if I ever have the opportunity to advise other patients I'm going to tell them to take up yoga before the scan. For one of them you have to lie perfectly still on a little skinny narrow bed for fifteen minutes and for another you have to do the same thing for twenty minutes.

Well, okay, for the twenty minute one once the scanner thingie has worked down from your head you can talk and sing and stuff.

The radiology guy was there, so I told him "The Elephant's Child". With the funny voices.

He said that was definitely a first.

Saw the surgeon for a followup yesterday. We talked a bit and he reassured me about the little pointybit under my scar. It's just a tag end of the dissolvable suture and should either vanish of its own accord in a month or so, medical tmi )

I'm still poking now and then at the movieverse fic. There will definitely be more of it coming, though. Especially since next week I start my time in radiation-pariahville.

I'm doing better than I expected so far, both with the hypothyroid part and with the diet. Planning really does pay off big time. If my sister hadn't stocked me up with beef stew and itty bitty meatloafs I'd be more unhappy, but having one of those a day to look forward to really makes a difference. I'm not doing quite so well at cutting down the Pepsi, but I need the caffeine!

So, so far, so good.

I want PROTEIN!!!!!!!!!!

Er... Did I mention that I'm rationed to five ounces of meat a day? I mean, I like peanut butter and all, but aaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!

Fortunately my itty bitty meatloaf is now in the microwave, so I will soon be able to wave my headache good bye for a while.

Went and saw the new endocrinologist today.

Of course I also started the Low Iodine Diet today.

Let me just state that to the uninitiated tongue, no-salt matzo crackers are absolutely dreadful...

*bleah!*

I called the endo's office and apparently she's as happy to see the back of me as I am to see the back of her. I'm off the levoxyl as of tonight, still doing the test on Monday, and seeing a different endo on Friday.

Cool beans.

Bought myself a pile of Good Eats DVDs and they just arrived (waking me up from a sound sleep, of course). Too bad I have to go to the doctor's tomorrow to get released to back to work!

For that next hurt/comfort fic I might write...

It's ridiculously easy to overdo, once you start to feel better.

Ah, well.

Spent part of the day rearranging my bookshelves. I've got about a third of the shifting done now, but it'll have to wait for tomorrow before I tackle any more. I figure that since I can get the shelves now I should put things at least sort of where I want them to be. No fine sorting, in spite of the librarian thing. I just want the fiction over here, the cooking over there, the music around about here, the folktales and poetry somewhere near yonder and the rest of the nonfiction over thataway. Except for the nonfiction that is all about some collection of fiction... mostly... which may end up in with the fiction. *ooh, lookee! Sherlock Holmes!*

I have an edifice of just the pocket sized paperbacks in the middle of the living room, which I intend to sort more finely once I've got the hardbacks and larger paperbacks in their respective homes. Haven't got all of them in the pile yet, and it's already taking on alarming dimensions. By the time I finish building it up I expect I'll be able to throw a blanket over the top and tell people it's the sofa. They'll all end up on the shelves again, naturally, eventually... I just have to stop stopping to read!
