At last the master list of all the Holmestice fics and art this round is up. And there were some truly lovely stories and artwork in the mix this time.

My humble contribution is called STUD, and it is a Very Silly Piece -- a blatant misuse of canon, with massive UST, and switching p.o.v.'s because the person who asked for it wanted Gregson/Lestrade and my brain boggled for three days before I began to get a glimmer of how to go about it. Fortunately [livejournal.com profile] janeturenne came to my rescue and beta'ed me out of the hole I wrote myself into.

And now I must go and get ready for my storyteller and the kickoff to summer reading. [Insert panic here.]

A seven percent solution was actually rather mild, Watson knew, but he resented the cocaine all the same. It galled him to know that the syringe could stave off one of Holmes's black moods when nothing he had ever tried or done had worked. And he distrusted the stuff, had watched morphine go from blessing to curse for far too many men, and every other anodyne as well.

How dare a drug, any drug, relieve Holmes of his mental anguish when Watson dared nothing but too much Beaune at lunch to ease a shoulder that never once forgot to ache?

He has the bearing of a soldier, or would, were it not for the left shoulder which no tailor can disguise as being even with the right. Shot in the back whilst running with the rest at Maiwand, my Army connections inform me, and yet he hasn't the heart of a coward. One of the roughs I sent to test his mettle ended up in hospital, and the other has yet to be released from jail. I begin to see what Holmes values in the man.

And I should have shot him while he was grieving by the Reichenbach Falls.

The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request that I write a drabble of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.

1. Holmes/Watson for Gayalondiel (done!)
2. Solo/Kuryakin for Random_nexus (done)
3. Frodo Baggins/Lily Proudfoot(OFC) for Belegcuthalion (done!)
4. Holmes/Watson crossed with Harry Potter for Elendiari (requested)
5. Bergil for Dreamflower (done!)
6. Sam for Periantari (requested)
7. Holmes and irritated Watson for Poeticmaiden (requested)
8. Mike Gambit for Timeless (requested)
9. Watson from the movie for Ancalime (requested)
10. Holmes comforting Watson -- awkwardly for Daylyn (requested)

Mind you, when I say a drabble, I mean it. *Grin*

Any fandom you see among my tags is fair game. I don't guarantee pairing things being at all romantic, though... Not my forte.

Ages long ago I started to try to drabble for thirty fandoms. I didn't get that far, but I'm thinking of going back to it. I need the mental exercise.

I just can't think of which fandoms to try, at least not this late at night. Any suggestions?

1) Pippin sauntered past the three layers of guards feeling smug. He’d finally managed to sneak Aragorn out of the Citadel the night before for a break from Kinging, and they’d gone on a glorious tear with the rest of the Fellowship, seeking out every low dive and unrespectable inn in the city before dragging themselves back up to the top of the horrid stairs and depositing the thoroughly beer-soaked Ranger in his quarters. The rest of them were still abed, even Gimli, who had an exceptionally hard head.

2) Pippin himself had decided after the third pint that not even Gandalf was planning to stay sober and since it had been his idea to go pub crawling he’d felt obligated to refrain and steer the rest of them. His virtue was paying dividends now, and he was rather looking over to gloating at Aragorn the same way he’d gloated at the others.

ETA, you might want to number your paragraph, so if the story splits into different trouserlegs of time we can follow along...

I just took on a challenge -- but since I can use old ficlets as well as new ones, it won't be as bad as all that. Sam had been taken, so I glommed the Fellowship over at [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100.

The "Stump the Author" meme -- I gacked it from [livejournal.com profile] cara_chapel because it looks like fun.

A-- go to my LOTR fanfiction and pick out a line or two from one of my stories.
B-- I will respond with which story I think it's from.
C-- I'll write a scene (in this case, a ficlet of 100-400 words) for the LOTR characters of your choice with the plot point of your choice to anyone who stumps me.
D-- If I get more than ten responses, I will do the first ten ficlets who stump me.

Obviously, you'd do well to pick something challenging, but unless it's really unique, I'm going to say it should be more than five words.

Have at thee!

The letter was written in the clear round hand of someone who had not written so much as to impress his own personality upon it, and had a small sticky handprint in the corner.

Dear King
Dear Majesty

Dear Mr. Strider,

I hope this finds you well. We are the same, except for what I am writing about. Which you may know already, as Mr. Pippin tells me that you can see through the stone right clearly. In any case they have gone, all the Ringbearers but for me, and I must stay with Rosie and the baby. But I did not carry it far enough to need to go, I guess. I expect they will be all right when they get to the other side of the sea. I hope so.

He told me I must stay to see the Shire healed, and it mostly is thanks to the Lady, but for all the good her gift has done we still have trouble. Food aplenty, and pipeweed which I have sent some to you and should come by Yule, but there are still Big Folk who come in and some cause trouble. There was a dust up at the Brandywine Bridge not half a month gone, and folk got hurt before Mr. Merry settled it. No one was killed, but it’s early days. Can you ask the Rangers to keep an eye on the East and South, and to send messages to Buckland if they need help with the watching? There’s some Shire-lads what think that adventures is what they want, and could do with learning better. But they’ll do what they’re told, and they’re willing.

Elanor is getting bigger, as you can see. Can you see her with that stone? I can try to have a picture made, if you like. Or you could come and see her yourself. I remember you said you’d come North someday and it can’t be soon enough for me.

Yours truly,

Sam Gamgee
