Still on the Quest

Is there a simple tutorial out there for how to make an animated icon? You know, one of those things where you get a picture or two, then words, then picture, then words... Or even just a rotation of pictures? Or is there a website/program that I can use?

I can crop a pic down to 100 x 100 pixels without a whole lot of trouble, but after that I'll admit I'm lost.

I figured out how to make a picture be 100 pixels by 100! I played with effects! I made an icon! (although you have to click the comments link to actually see it...)

Well, sort of. And I haven't figured out how to put words in there yet. But it's a start!

Starting to poke in a desultory fashion at the question of how to get an icon, and all I've really managed to do is find a whole lotta pictures that knock my socks off. It's more fun wandering around looking at scenery hobbits than reading a technical faq, anyway. And it's not like I have website to store the pictures on.

I never knew there were so many screencaps out there on the web! (I can't figure out how to make my computer even make one.)
