Okay, so today I got rooked into walking in a parade along with some people from different agencies working with 0 to 5 year olds. We also invited families with children of that age to come with us, and in the end the group was about sixty people, ranging in age from "can't sit up in the stroller yet" to "who says retired people can't have fun?" I was banner wrangling, with the help of some adolescents as well as a couple of determined pre-K kids, and while we were waiting for the parade to start, and for our part of the parade to get moving, the older kids and I started to make up our own words to songs between bursts of listening to the bagpipers near us. Then one of the little ones piped up with this, sung to the tune of Frere Jacques:

We've been waiting
We've been waiting
All Day Long
All Day Long
That's why we are singing
That's why we are singing
Waiting Songs
Waiting Songs

The Intergalactic Laxative from the album Cosmic Wheels.

From an era when record companies were brave enough to publish the good rude stuff. *sigh* This only ever came out on CD in Europe, and I have just given Amazon wayyy too much money for it, but I've been looking for it in every record store I go into for years.

I went and saw The Revels today, knowing I'd meet a friend who was also there and I turned out to be sitting just above her and two rows back (although there was a drop, so I didn't find her till intermission. Of course, by that time I'd got myself got caught up in the long line of dancers heading out into the lobby, singing "Lord of the Dance" with the rest, so I was pretty happy already.

After the second half, we went with her and her mom and some of her mom's friends (none of whom I'd met before) to Legal Seafood, where I stuffed myself on scrod and talked entirely too much on cats, knitting, and Roxbury Puddingstone. Fortunately, they were all lovely people and put up with me, but I came home still giddy from good music and good company. Good thing I don't drink!

Trying to find rock salt in preparation for tonight/tomorrow's storm brought me down with a thump. Nine bucks for ten pounds! But I couldn't find it anywhere else within walking distance and it's cold out there...

Oh, well, I have leftovers in the refrigerator, a pile of new Revels CDs (because I utterly failed my resistance roll) and the prospect of a day when it will be a virtue to sit inside and drink hot chocolate...

*wanders off to listen to the weathercasters panic for a little while before she goes to sleep*

The only thing saving my wallet is that cdbaby isn't cooperating just now.

They've got Christmas music from the Phillipines!

Christmas music... I got the list off of Wikipedia, so it isn't perfect.  Bold for ...hm... own it.  Italics for have heard it but don't own it.  Strike through for "please don't make me listen to that again", Nothing for "what the heck is that?"  (If you have it in more than one language bold both versions of the title.)

Mind you, I haven't doublechecked the list myself yet... this is just off the top of my head.

House isn't clean.
Laundry isn't done.
But I managed to get all the Christmas CDs loaded onto the PC.

All 161 hours, 27 minutes and 22 seconds of it...

yipes!

Is finding yourself sitting down to listen to the music you bought months ago and discovering that you're in love with something that should have come out of the wrapper the moment you got it home.

*happy sigh*
