Morning at Bag End

He’d apologized once for not having a home to bring her to, and she’d told him that it didn’t matter, but she’d wondered all the same how it would be to live in a hole that belonged to neither of them.

But as he made their breakfast she realized how well he knew the rhythms of this place, could put a hand to every pan and plate, and coax the pump to work without considering its quirks. As he reached for the salt he cast a smile over his shoulder and she smiled back.

He’d brought her home after all.

Oh, how lovely! What a peaceful, loving scene, and such a wonderful idea for a drabble.

*happy sigh*

Sam probably knew Bag End better than he could ever know any other hole, huh?

He'd brought her home after all.

How lovely. :)

Well, since the original #3 Bagshot Row got destroyed, yes. And after all the work of fixing Bag End up I'd expect he'd know every nail and board. Thanks!

Thank you. Although this one wasn't so much a punch as a gentle tap on the nose...

Oh... how beautiful! I'm barely awake, but I'm sitting here with a big, happy smile on my face... it's a marvel. I should read one of your drabbles every morning... this one made my day, really.

Thank you!

I'm not sure I can come up with one every morning! But I'm glad this one started your day off right.

Wow! I love this! Such a cozy moment you have painted...Sam and Rosie in the kitchen at Bag End. Home.

Lovely!

That is probably one of the best drabbles I've read! A lot of them feel stilted, like the person was working to keep it to 100 words, but this one flows just perfectly! Bravo!

*Laughs with delight!* If only you could have seen me arranging and rearranging the sentences, and adding and subtracting words to reach the magic 100 last night! I threw out entire ideas and images (which will turn up in another drabble, I'm pretty sure) before I was satisfied.

Nice to know it was worth the work!

I love the little details you use to describe how Rosie finds that Bag End is indeed home for Sam. That quirk with the pump is an inspired touch. :) And the ending is lovely.

All hand pumps have quirks, in my experience. *grin*

Thank you!
