rabidsamfan: samwise gamgee, I must see it through (nap)

Work owes me five hours for Saturday, so I chucked all of the important things I should be doing (like getting ready for the move, etc...) and went and watched RotK one more time. And I'm glad I went today, because if I'd gone tomorrow I would have got to the theater and discovered it wasn't showing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (heaven knows why and I didn't ask.)

It's amazing. Between [livejournal.com profile] shadowfax8, [livejournal.com profile] teasel and [livejournal.com profile] strangerian I have an entirely different take on it than I did. (Although I still wince and take off my glasses when Eowyn goes to confront Aragorn.) Didn't hear any whispers at the Grey Havens, but that may be because everyone in the audience -- all dozen of us -- was sniffling.

(Reminds herself to check if Tolkien had Sam use "nowt" or "naught" in Cirith Ungol. Movie used "naught"...)

I want my DVD. I want the rumored CD of all the music. I want some kind theater to show all three of them together in the area, and I want the stamina (and the aspirin) to actually do it. I want my knees back...

And I want to sit with you in that cinema and share a handkerchief in the Grey Havens-Scene and crawl outside afterwards with stiff knees...

Oh, yes please! And then go for some exotic cuisine and icecream and a tolkienesque conversation that goes on and on while the ice packs melt on our knees until the sun starts peeking over the windowsills...

Can I come too? (pleading look) The movie left this area over a month ago, very sad I am.

Awww. One time when I went, it was me, the person I went with, and an elderly couple a few rows in back. Right as Frodo woke up after the eagles-rescue, in the middle of the peaceful music, the older man, in a very loud voice, says "OH. THEY AREN'T DEAD."

Needless to say, my pondering of whether or not Frodo thought he was dead and what he thought of this was cut a bit short. ;)
