Movieverse ficlet:

Five More Days to Rivendell

"What are you doing? Those things are still out there!" Sam protested.

Aragorn turned a grim face on the little hobbit. "I know. But we are running out of time, Sam. Arwen will...She will do her best to get Frodo to safety."

"But who is she?" Merry asked.

"She is the daughter of Elrond Half-Elven," Aragorn told them, and saw some of the anger leaving Sam's eyes. "She has been seeking us, and it is our great good fortune that she has found us."

"But how are we going to help Frodo if we're not with him?" Pippin asked forlornly.

Aragorn tried to smile, and knew that it wasn't working very well. "All we can do now is follow," he said.

"Then we'd best get started," Sam said, reaching for his pack. Rather to Aragorn's surprise, Pippin and Merry didn't protest. In fact, Merry reached for the water pot to put out the fire.

"We should eat something first," Aragorn said. "You'll walk better for it, and so will I."

Three small faces turned to him then, studying him as if he'd grown an extra head. "I didn't think you ever got hungry," Pippin's usual lack of tact explained their confusion. "Or tired."

This time Aragorn's smile was easier. "I am both," he said. "But cure the one and the other will not matter so much."

Can anyone suggest a good Sick!Sam story? You know, one where the other folks get to take care of him? I woke up with a miserable cold today and I've been dozing off and on (thanks to the Alka-Seltzer Plus, which knocks out my symptoms and me too) and I have a feeling I'm going to be awake half the night. I think the lightning storms are finally easing off so I can be on the computer, but the writing's not going so well... Time to read.

I love this. You're not only a good Sam-writer, you write a remarkable Aragorn, too. (Funny enough, he will always look like Viggo Mortensen for me now. Well... he was a remarkable Aragorn, indeed.)

Sorry, my dear friend, but the best Sick!Sam-story I know has been written by you - The Ringbearer and the Rose. Therefore I have some difficulties to recommend something.

But I will write you some Sick!Sam-scenes in Before I go to sleep; they are already planned. Try to find some rest. I'm thinking of you and I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, I'll admit that Viggo made Aragorn a lot more real to me. I'm glad you like the way I write him.

Scenes are good...

You *do* write a grand Aragorn!

Stories that involve healing Sam? The best one I've read is a WIP called "The Master and the Servant"....oh, wait. Ooops. *Pippinesque grin*

Actually, if you don't mind slash, I've seen a few over at WOTM (I've read all the slash there but not all the gen, and all the sick Sam stories I can recall off the pointy top of my wee head are over in the slash section.) For instance, there're the chapters of "The Making of Samwise" that deal with the aftermath of Sam's injuries in the fire...

And there's this, (emotional healing) which was recced recently in a thread to cheer up another person: http://www.henneth-annun.net/stories/chapter_view.cfm?STID=733&SPOrdinal=1

Oh, yes, I re-read that one yesterday myself. It's probably my favorite of all Celeborn stories.

And maybe if I can't sleep I'll haul out The Master and the Servant again... maybe...

How about this one?

http://baranduin.us/mathoms_2003/alight.htm

It is the mathomfic that [livejournal.com profile] ana_stasia wrote for me in the Frodo's New Year Mathom Exchange. It has some sick!unhappy!Sam in there with protector!Frodo by his side.

I hope you get better soon!

I hope you feel better soon. I finally nipped my sore throat that I had for nearly 2 weeks. Must be sinuses.

Sam always so protective and weary. Always on guard as well as guardian.

I love your ficlet! And I'm very sorry you're sick. I've just gotten over a hideous cold myself, so you have my full sympathy.

Somebody beat me to the Making of Samwise suggestion, I fear. I hope you get lots of good recs. My solution when I couldn't breathe enough to sleep was to pick a page of WotM at random and read everything on it. :-)

Very nice little ficlet. i can imagine the look on Pippin`s face when hearing about tired and hungry Strider, lol.

Brandywine is a great story, I love it for the Merry parts and I also think it`s a great Merry/Sam-friendship story.

The chapter with Merry and Sam talking is really good. I think I'm going to end up searching out a lot of her recommendations too.

Poor Strider. No one takes care of him!
