Feasting at Rivendell

Merry wondered if he should offer to change places. From his vantage point he could see that Frodo’s appetite had recovered nicely, but Sam, forbidden to serve at the high table, was fussing. Then again, every time Sam twisted around to look at Frodo sitting up at the high table, Pippin had a chance to slip another bit of potato, or slice of meat onto the gardener’s plate. Pippin blushed defiantly when he realized Merry had noticed, but Merry smiled and discreetly topped off Sam’s glass of wine. “Best eat up, Sam,” he said, “You wouldn’t want Frodo to worry.”

I've just tuned in, is this a stand-alone drabble or part of a series?

It's a stand alone drabble. I tend to write drabbles when everything else is stuck, or when I don't have time for a longer piece on a break. So I've written a lot of drabbles, but I don't think of them as a series.

I just put most of my short stuff together into the story called "Attack of the Plot Bunnies" at my ff.n page (the fanfiction link on my lj), so a lot of my drabbling is there if you're interested.

Aah, I loved it!! I'm serious, it was so touching!! I don't know why, exactly--I mean, you just managed to say so much in so little space! I loved Pippin blushing when he got caught trying to feed Sam. *giggle* Soooo very very perfect. Sam doesn't get taken care of enough, and of COURSE Merry and Pippin would want to take care of him. It's a relationship that doesn't get much notice, so bravo!
