"You sank the boat?"

"I created a diversion."

"You sank the boat?"

"Technically, the Friesland is... was a ship rather than a boat. Which is why it was large enough to carry the boat we are in now."

"Sherlock, you sank the boat!"

"That's right, John. Do catch up."

"I was on that boat!"

"You were being held prisoner on that ship by a man who wanted to pull out your fingernails one by one until you told him what you know."

"But I don't know anything!"

"Precisely. Which is why I sank the boat."

"Oh, shut up and paddle."

The prompt today wanted to play with the Friesland, but I'd already done that so I had to reach...

MOOHA!!!!! Love, love, love how you've captured their voices! Do catch up - after John has repeated "you sank the boat" three times - is just wonderfully dry and snarky and Sherlocky.

And then Sherlock's motivation ... aw ... I think he's betraying a hint of feeling there! He might be happy to snark and needle, but he still doesn't want John to be tortured.

I think Holmes was perfectly rational about the whole thing. I'd do the same, if I were him.

I don't know the fandom except for the original Doyle stories, but this is just so delightfully fun I loved it anyway. Well done.

Reading this again and LOLing again. I'm sure blowing up the ship sent a message to anyone thinking of kidnapping Sherlock's flatmate.
