Inanition

Watson collected the lit cigarette from the unconscious detective. "Three days, flat on his back, with neither food nor water, and the man thinks he can just jump right up to his feet. By rights I ought to just leave him here."

"By rights," Mrs. Hudson said, her arms folded as she watched from the door, "I ought to take a broom and sweep him out the door."

Watson grunted as he lifted Holmes back into the bed. "Just forget to put any salt in his gruel."

"Gruel, doctor?"

"Gruel. And very weak tea. After all, he is an invalid!"

Author's Notes: references DYIN and this quote from NORW: "I have known him presume upon his iron strength until he has fainted from pure inanition." The Watson's Woes prompt today urged to fix something in canon.

I don't know why, I love fics where Holmes had problems because he wasn't eating.

Love Mrs. Hudson's suggestion of sweeping Holmes out the door.
