Sooo, I'm driving down to Albuquerque for a wedding, and after a lovely side trip to a volcano near Raton, I notice that it's raining here and there. And pretty soon there are a few spatters on the windshield. And then a few more. And then somewhere, someone dumped over a Very Large Bucket and visibility dropped to really really not very far at all. Quite exciting!

Hail. Lots of Hail. Lots and lots and lots of hail. So much that the only thing to do was find a way off the highway and if you were lucky, hide under an underpass.

Ignore the date. I somehow turned it back on and have to figure out how to turn it off again. Silly camera!

After the storm, the line of cars I joined was being led by a snowplow. A snowplow on the first of June! The hail was about two inches deep, but it worries me that the local highway people are that prepared...

Seriously?? WTF?

I looked at the picture and it took me a couple times of reading your post to get it through my head that the piles of white stuff is NOT snow in New Mexico in June, but hail... and somehow that's still hard to imagine.

I'm glad you made it through okay.

Oh my... that *does* look exciting! Was that the "ice-covered highway" you mentioned in your post yesterday? If so, I believe there is a Des Moines in New Mexico, and Las Vegas wouldn't be that far away... I don't know what the Canadian river would be, though.

Scratch that. I just googled it and found an entry on a "Canadian River." I was thinking of an adjective (as, no doubt, you were expecting us to) when instead it was an actual name. Ha! How odd.

Bet you had fun putting together that little puzzle. :)

It was squooshy hail, so the paint job is fine.
