I'm still kind of absorbing it. And kicking myself for not taking the opportunity to go and see it with BC as the creature, too. But it was pretty awesome anyway. And I will confess to a moment of amusement over the fact that the costumer also seems to think that Victor Frankenstein should be able to rock a greatcoat...

Was this the NT Live version? If yes, I just saw it too! Drove down to Colo Spgs and saw Jonny as Creature. I am deciding, for all the fun I had with spoilers (as I wasn't expecting to go), nothing makes up for seeing it myself and making up my own mind. I'm very glad I saw BC as Victor, and we saw a lot more of him than I was led to expect. But you're right; whoever thought VF could rock a greatcoat really doesn't unerstand that character. :)

We'll chat more after we've both had a chance to absorb. Cheers!

I got on the mailing list now. And after much confusion, found the venues page. (Here: http://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/61172/venues-amp-booking/usa-venues.html)

I wish I'd gone March 17th, but I didn't have anyone to go with, and... well... I mean, I kind of need someone to goggle at and go Wow! (A friend went with me last night.)

In all of the Boulder/Denver area, I had my choice of ... 0 theatres. But I could drive down to Colo Springs (about 90 minutes) and see 4 shows over 3 days. I randomly picked Sunday because it was the least disruptive to my schedule. It turned out they did the 2 Ben as Creature's first and then the 2 Jonny's. But I'm glad I saw BC as Victor. It was fun! And yes, very nice to chat with friends afterward about the show.

We knew nit about the actual novel, so the North Pole was news to us all. I've since learned more. They did some interesting choices with the screenplay, but overall I think it was a very nice adaptation. I didn't feel the dialog was clunky, as several others had reported; perhaps it's been refined. I loved everyone's favorites the best-- BC and JLM, Elisabeth and Blind Guy. So glad there was humor here and there to relieve it.

I do not have words for my jealousy right now.

Good for you.

Yup, still jealous.

We did see Mar 17, and loved it - though I found the flopping about the stage like a dying guppy a bit giggle-inducing at first. And evidently it's usually done in the nude (but given the unpredictable age of the audience in the various movie theaters, the loin cloth was probably a wise choice), which would make sense given the undeniably womb-like appearance of that set piece that's on stage right at the beginning. The story itself is excellent, and that stage is so amazing. Once the flappity flap was done with - and don't get me wrong, I understand WHY he did it, it did create an undeniable sense of a young thing in a fully grown body, figuring out what it does and why - BC's portrayal was moving and full of pathos and wry digs. I would dearly like to see it again but I missed the encore. :(
