I wonder if this means I need to be more conscientious about posting my stories over at AO3.

Cause they just enabled user subscriptions!

I'm at faviconrabidsamfan on the AO3. (You'll need to log in to see the subscribe button.)

If you've hung around here for any length of time you've got a pretty good idea of what I write. Mind you, I'm still transferring a lot of stuff to AO3, so if you do subscribe, you'll probably see some repetition.

Ack! One more thing to get all angsted over on the starving-for-feedback-author end of things...

I am glad they added it, though. I've wanted to be able to put authors on alert there.

I don't think it lets you know who subscribed to you. But I could be wrong...

Okay, I subscribed to you. Did you get any kind of notification?

Oh! That would be nice.

Though... it doesn't actually tell you via alert who has bookmarked you, and yet it's there in the stats if you look for it. Maybe it will be like that?

Nope. No notification, or place that I can find to look for it on AO3. So, I guess it doesn't show.

Well, that is nice, because it's one less thing to angst over.

(and yes... I know the ultimate answer is just not to to angst about something so silly, but what can I say? :-P)

You're not abandoning your LJ, are you? :-(

No, of course not. I just keep thinking I should have my stories on multiple archives in case one of them goes the way of geocities.

I also think multiple archives are nice because the audience is often quite different.

I have my stories all backed up, but that's really a good idea. Considering how LJ was down the other day you never know what can happen. Besides, you might find some fresh eyeballs! ;-)

May I ask what's the appeal of AO3? Just dead ignorant, here. I can't seem to keep up with more than one service at a time, though. Thanks.

Well, I only use it as an archive for stories, both reading and posting.

The most noticeable advantages are being able to put the whole story onto one page, and being able to download the whole story in an ebook format.

It's a nice interface, without all the "you can't do that" limitations of ff.n. Fan run, so they're responsive to what people request as they get the capacity to do it. The "kudos" button offers a way to say you liked something when you haven't got the brains to write a review, too.

Follow the link to my stories and poke around a bit. See what you think.
