Have any of you taken Tamiflu? And did it work before you ran out of it? Because I've got one pill to go and I swear I feel worse than I did when I started the course.

Ugh :( Haven't taken it myself, but have researched it...it IS supposed to shorten duration of symptoms...looks like it isn't working well for you, is it? :(

I know wirral_bagpuss took it last summer and it appeared to have worked out well for her.

Hope you feel better soon!

How frustrating! I'm sorry you're feeling worse. There are some medicines that act on me the opposite of what they're supposed to... e.g., Nyquil keeps me awake. *sigh*

It keeps my sister awake too. In fact, most things that say they'll make you drowsy make her hyper. And then she falls over.

Yes i took tamiflu last year for suspected swine flu. It did stop things from getting worse, but it still took a week for the bug to run its course. Ugh ! Sorry to hear you got it. It is horrid.

Well, I hadn't developed all the symptoms when I started, but I sure have done now.

Done with the pills now i'll see how long it takes to be done with the flu.

Not sure in what way you're feeling worse, but Tamiflu's got nasty side effects in some people: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, ear pain, cough, wheezing, vertigo, headaches, sleep disturbances, hallucinations... those things happen in less than 10% of patients, but IIRC, you're a 'less than 10%' sort of person - meaning if a rare side effect exists, it seems to happen to you.

Feel better soon, sweetie!

I was just going to say that I thought maybe you had said something negative about Tamiflu once but I could not remember the context! :)

No vomiting -- well, only once, and that was when I coughed myself to that point. Lots of coughing, tho, which I'd assigned to the flu itself. And ears hurt, ditto. Sleep disturbances, definitely! My appetite is also shot.

The only thing that frets me is that my back hurts on the left side just above the hip off and on. But I'm still piddling, and the piddle is clear, so I don't think its a kidney thing.

Oh, well, the fever's not spiking as high each night, so one more pill ain't gonna kill me. And maybe tomorrow I'll feel better. *looks hopeful*

Last night wasn't any fun at all. *sigh* Going to have to call the clinic tonight if things don't get better.

It worked very well for me for flu (suspected H1N1) last fall, but I can't say that means everyone is the same. . .Surg could be right about the side effects being an issue.

I do hope you feel much better soon, poor sweetie. :( You've been going through the wringer, haven't you?

Gentle hugs,
Febobe

I've never taken it myself, but my kids have, and it did shorten the duration of the flu for them. I guess the flu's just been doubly bad for you. I hope you're better soon!

I do hope you'll feel better soon!

No hallucinations. At least none that I knew were hallucinations. How can you tell it's a hallucination, i wonder, if the pink elephants don't show up?

LOL! Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of hallucinations I had when I was very young and had asthma.

I remember one in which there was this really cool parade of tiny rainbow colored people marching around the room up near the ceiling. And I had cartoon characters living under my pillow at one point. I know that these were hallucinations and not dreams or imagination, because even now I remember them as "real" memories.

When my husband has a high temp, he hallucinates about giant pink rabbits, trying to take the roof off the house. I worked *that* one into a fic once.

I took it once and it made me feel like crap (it made me vomit), but the overall time I spent being sick did seem to be shortened. How early after getting sick did you take it, though? I've always heard that it's only worth taking within the first 24 hours, and otherwise there aren't many benefits.

I think I was about a day and a half into the flu. Still within 24 hours of the first time my temp spiked, though.

You can tell it's a hallucination if
a) you're at work and you're enjoying yourself
b) the drabble came out at 100 words exactly AND you like the first title that came to mind
c) the plotbunny gave you the ending for the story instead of just the annoying little sidebranch
c) the purple woozel is reassuring you that the pink heffalumps don't really exist. and they're not wearing tutus.
