Racing Darkness: Frodo

I hate to ride while the others walk, but I do not think I could manage to keep up anymore. The cold has spread from my shoulder down my side and if it were not that I can see the reins Glorfindel has wrapped around my wrist I would not know how I've kept from falling. I'm getting sore too, because the saddle is not sized for hobbits, no more than the horse could be. But I do not complain. In a strange way, I'm grateful for the pain. I don't think you can still get blisters if you're dead.

Once, when I went to the ER, I was lying on a cot and the nurse who came to check on me asked me how I was doing. I said, "I'm bored," and she said, "if you were sick enough to be seen immediately you'd be too sick to notice." I nodded, and have tried to remember that at various points in my life when I needed to endure.

This reminded me of that, in a good way.

Yes, I still remember the first time I landed in ER, and my confusion at realizing that a broken collarbone and a knock on the head did not constitute an inability to move...

Sometimes you just have to go ahead and go.

Thanks!

Intense was it? I couldn't decide if it was prosaic or funny or just logical... Have you ever ridden a horse that was too big for you? Poor Frodo...

no..haven't rode on a horse too big for me :p ..the last line could be thought of as "funnY" or intense but it did sound logical to me so therefore i thought that it was quite creative to include that... because death or falling into shadow were both imminent effects... and Frodo could've easily died... :*(

You know, he has a point... ;) And I was happy to see this! I'd been hoping you'd do Frodo as part of this little series. :)

I'm still trying to come up with a good "twist" for Glorfindel...

Hi RSF. I'm enjoying these little vignettes very much. An interesting idea and very well executed. Thanks!

Pure impulse, actually. But I'm having fun with it!
