Anstruther was all too glad to be able to return his attention to only his own patient list, no matter that it had been supplemented by several names of people who preferred a physician of less notoriety.

But for all the patients I had lost, I'd gained another, if only temporarily. The young newspaperman who thought to worm an interview from me pretended digestive troubles, and I was entirely too happy to prescribe -- and administer -- a dose of salts. Something to tell Holmes about, I thought, and found myself unbearably glad that I would get the chance to do so.

This is a continuation of "Call for the Doctor", which I left off of many moons ago. The tag will lead you to the rest of the drabbles, or you can read them at ff.n.)

Mwah-ha-ha... do not annoy the doctor, for he knows ways to annoy you without killing you.

I soo have to check this out on FFN. Prowling through LJ can be a trial at times.

I just love how loyal the Irregulars are to Holmes. In a day when no one paid much attention to street arabs, or cared about their well-fair, or tried to exploit them, I'm sure Holmes was a great change.

I have often wanted to read stories or fic about the Irregulars after they became too old for the job. I'm sure Holmes wouldn't have abandoned them, so it would be interested to see where they ended up (or what they achieved) later in life.
