00:23-24 Looks like Holmes is running down a dark alleyway, but is that figure in the distance Watson? Sure looks like his big comfy coat.

00:39. Someone's tied up hanging by their hands behind that flame. Could be Watson, could be Irene Adler. Hard to tell. Don't think it's Holmes, though.

00:46/47 That blurry profile on the left. Definitely Watson.



00:52, as Holmes opens his detecting/burglaring kit. That's Watson's coat sleeve on the left! Definitely! (Yes, I did spend way too much time looking at set pictures.)


00:55/56 YAY! A really good shot of Watson at last! And it zooms all the way in from a "look at the pretty clothes" shot to a "look at the pretty eyes" shot, too!

00:58 Pretty sure that's Watson's boot kicking in the door that Holmes is trying to picklock.

01:00 - 02 Two shot with Holmes! Handshake and they both get ready for a smackdown.

01:05 Glimpse of Watson in background of fight.

01:08/9 - 16 Lovely interchange with Watson looking like he's badly missing a warm fire and a reasonable meal. And taking it out on Holmes.

01:26 - 28 Leading in with a voice over, and then nice shot of Watson asking Holmes about depravity. I suspect that it's Irene Adler we see facing off with Watson, and by that point she's donned boys clothes.

01:32 Pardon me while I drool over the black uniform thingie...Damn that boy cleans up nice!

O1:36 Glimpse. Looks like he's taking aim at something.

01:51 Hmm. Might be Watson's legs we see on the ground in background. And then hard cut to Holmes and Watson bursting heroically through a doorway. I wonder why Ritchie so often puts Watson on the left side of the shot?

01:54 Dynamic duo firing at some threat in perfect unison. Followed immediately by shot of Watson in distance holding up a warning hand while the building behind him explodes.

02:00 Holmes and Watson sprawled on the floor of what might be a gigantic warehouse thingie. Holmes's turn to rag on Watson this time.

02:03 Yes, that's Watson pulling Holmes to the boat in the Thames!

02:04-5 Watson shouting "Hoooolmes!" and raising that warning hand. He looks quite alarmed, really.

I was taking caps with the sound off, and there is a great deal of Watson love in there. The shot of 0.0 W on the warehouse/factory floor is lovely.

I should probably go through looking for Irene for comparison purposes (honestly, I think she's got fewer scenes, even if we see clips from one of them several times), but I'm too busy enjoying the Watsonlove.

There seem to be several shots of her in shirtsleeves and braces during the action bit (hanging from stuff amidst the flames, or being blown up.) I assume it's all from the same scene.

As much as the trailer brings the Watson, I love the new (I think they're new?) stills even more. Especially this one. It's the hat. And the posture. And the suspenders. And the EVERYTHING.

If I had to take a stab at it (and sorry; I haven't read the other comments yet) I think Ritchie keeps Watson on Holmes's left to further illustrate Watson's role as trusted companion. SIGN shows Holmes as right-handed so his left hand is the "weak" one. thus Watson is protecting Holmes's weak side. I may be way off the mark but I have to say I like the theory.

(Also, I'm pretty sure the person hanging by the hands in front of the fire is Irene Adler. But I'll look again.)

I'm laughing at myself, because having not really bothered with icons for several years now, I now find myself with several icons... mostly Watson!

p.s. if you really look at the Adler kiss, you can see that she starts it while he's trying to talk to her, and he doesn't have a clue what to do with his nose.

0:40 -- I was wrong; person hanging by the flames has blondish sideburns and suspenders. Can't see the face for the hands but the chest appears to be a man's (or a flat-chested woman.) But it doesn't quite look like Watson . . . maybe one of the cult's victims?

00:58 -- I completely agree. that does appear to be Watson's foot doing what Holmes's lockpicks couldn't.

1:34 -- is it me or is the "black uniform thingie" actually a ROYAL PURPLE?! And is that a black, Nazi-esque abstract eagle done in embroidery on his chest? On a side note it may be my screen angle but heavens! does purple ever bring out the blue of the man's eyes! XD

. . . I love that shot of Holmes and Watson right after the explosion. Their respective expressions are delicious. And that new screencap of the Holmes/Adler kiss is too funny. Poor Holmes, I think he's just got too much nose to move it out of the way completely.

the person at 00:40 may be a stunt double. The explosions at the end definitely look like RDJ and JL, but the distant Adler looks like a double to me.

Definitely Watson kicking in the door. No one else would dare.

The black thing may be a very dark blue, at least in the screencaps. The embroidery doesn't look like an eagle to me, but it does look like some of the Victorian formal military outfits I've seen in pictures. (And it definitely is black, although not blue-black.)

I am much amused by the nosemash.
