Watson was going to argue, wanted to argue. Instead, he sneezed.
Holmes walked the length of the sitting room, scooping up a blanket off the couch as he went and wrapped it around Watson’s shoulders as he approached the sneezing doctor.
Watson found his handkerchief and blew his nose before answer. “Thanks Holmes, but it really not so bad. I just have the flu. Besides, how else am I going to eat breakfast?” That said he headed to the table and poured himself a cup of tea.
Holmes added more fuel to the fire, reigning in his emotions and spoke into it. “I’m sure Mrs. Hudson could have brought your breakfast upstairs. Actually, I will make sure of it. Now go back to bed.”
Watson hesitated, sighed and headed for the door. “I don’t understand you, Holmes,” He turned and said. “I don’t understand how you put so much concern over my mild flu and yet insist on damaging yourself with that.” Watson pointed to Holmes’ desk, where his needle rest, before storming up the stairs.
Holmes heard the door shut with more force than necessary then voiced his answer to the empty room. “Because, my dear Watson, I care more for you than any other. Watson, because…”
