"No, I can't," I told him angrily. "If he wants to go skiving off with you to play detective he can find someone else to cover for him. I've been up all night for three days in a row and I'm tired."

"Dr. Anstruther," Holmes began, just as angrily, and then perhaps he saw what I hadn't told him, that those three nights vigil had been in vain, for he cooled. "Perhaps you can recommend an alternative. And someone nearer Baker Street, who can tell me whether Watson has pneumonia."

"Not again," I groaned, and reached for my coat.

Oh dear. Poor Watson! The "again" is kind of worrisome...

Yup... As long as it's Holmes who get worried!

Mhm, should have known before this that with those two it couldn't be as simple as it looked. *wince* Got to love the Sidekick Syndrome.

BTW, I love the way you showed the necessary information in only dialogue; it's an awesome trick and you nail it so well that I'm deathly envious.

Drabbles really make you weigh each word. It's great discipline.

And this is sort of working around to just why Holmes invited Watson to return to Baker Street -- if I can get it to work!

Oy vey. Poor Watson (and I love the way how you give us that moving little detail with Anstruther's fruitless nights!).

I'm coming off a discussion about The Norwood Builder that attached a plotbunny to my ankle...

Watson! Oh, dear.

You never cease to amaze me with the sheer power you pack into these short drabbles. There's so much tension, emotion, and squee in so few words. I love it!

I don't often comment, but I just wanted to say that I'm in awe of these drabbles. Each one is a gem.
