Okay, so I'm trying to beat off the monthly effects of the flippin' hormones, and I'm looking through a box of hand-scribbled fanficbits that goes back to high school. Lone Ranger, Alias Smith and Jones, Emergency!, Route 66, Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Riptide, Lord Peter, The Hardy Boys, Ironside, Nero Wolfe, Mod Squad, MUNCLE, Streets of San Francisco... even Longstreet, Vega$, and Doc Elliot, and I'm not even a third of the way through the box.

Then I come across a page or two of yet another WIP and have no clue. Lockwood? Cameron? Who the...

Fortunately you can find information about just about anything on the internet.

Now I want DVDs...

*sigh*

Yes, the crush was on Doug McClure, but it was still Burgess Meredith I wanted to meet.

I liked that series. If you'd told me the name it wouldn't have rung a bell, but I remember the cast.

I sure didn't remember it from the scrap of fic -- but when I went to that second link and played the quicktime themesong my inner child began to meep happily. "Probe One to Probe Control!"....

And then I found this site: http://www.tvsgreatesthits.com/ and they've got the intro to Automan...

Most of the early bits were MarySues of the "authorial insert" variety, written to get a certain scene out of my head, and did not deserve to be finished -- although I admit enjoying the rereading. There are a some turns of phrase that please me even now. Still, why I made "myself" an orphan so often I couldn't say...

I *totally* remember SEARCH! In fact, the only shows I don't remember from your list are Riptide and Nero Wolfe.

Riptide was on in the eighties (I liked the geek) and the Nero Wolfe I remember lasted barely half a season. William Conrad as Wolfe and Lee Horsley as Archie Goodwin.

I'm also reminded of the brief run of "Ellery Queen" with Jim Hutton and David Wayne. Oh, that was a good show!

You're taking me back in time. I'd love to see "The Phoenix" again, as well as "Shadow Chasers" (a show I think only I ever saw and adored).

I don't remember either of those two, but it's clear that someone else remembers at least one of them:

Thanks. :) Gosh, that was a funny show. It was put up against "The Cosby Show" and only lasted a few episodes.

Oh, I loved that show! It had a great premise, and cool special effects--very good ones for the time. And I thought Burgess Meredith was awesome in it.

You know, another show I adored, that didn't last long was Bill Bixby in "The Magician". That was another one with an awesome premise--I don't think it would have worked as well with any other actor, though.

*snicker* Considering that I found myself with an earworm for the theme song of "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" last night...

Bill Bixby was one of my earliest crushes, I think. And I absolutely adored The Magician.

I wonder if anyone's put it out on DVD?
