A very old travellers advice book, which I think is going to become one of my favorite references for fantasy travel into wild country, despite its archaic attitudes. Well, maybe because of them. I keep reading and reading and trying to get my eyebrows down from out of my hair as I goggle at the next outrageous example of ethnocentrism or sexism.

But it does make me want to play Castle Falkenstein again...

It was a tabletop roleplaying game set in the late nineteenth century, pretty much Europe except that magic worked. A friend of mine ran some games there and I really liked the character I came up with for it.

Mind you, I remember nothing about how to play the game, just the characters we had for the story. Ah well!

I had lain down, but I just got my laundry back from the laundromat and they must have switched detergents or something. The t-shirt I was using for pajamas smelled a little funny and set off an asthma attack. I'm just waiting for the antihistimine and puffer to kick in at this point. Although I think I'm going to have to wash myself down too, to get rid of the smell.
