Went and saw Terry Pratchett at the main library tonight. It was marvelous. Not an overflow crowd, but as Pterry pointed out, most everyone who wanted to see him went to WorldCon. Which I missed, because I'd been ill so much this month. But seeing TP made up for it. He is amazing and wonderful and funny in person as well as in books. I wish he'd write a short autobiography for kids/YAs. It'd be wonderful to set alongside "Boy" by Roald Dahl.

I met Pterry a few years back and he is wonderful to his fans, isn't he? Very friendly and open and enthusiastic. What's your favourite Discworld novel or character?

Character, Granny Weatherwax, I think, although Carrot and Sam Vimes get a close second. And Tiffany Aching is coming up fast through the ranks.

I'm not sure I can pick only one favorite novel either. Curiously enough Small Gods is near the top, although it has none of my favorite characters in it! Guards Guards, Witches Abroad, and Carpe Jugulum are all up there though. And Hogfather, which I love to pieces.

Sam Vimes is my all-time favourite with Rincewind a close second. I am really disappointed that mr. Pratchett does not seem to want to write more of his adventures but there are plenty of books about him.
Is Tiffany Aching the witch from A Hat Full of Sky? I still have to read that one, but it is hardly ever available in the library :(

Small Gods is one of his best if you ask me. It's one of my favourites as well, along with Hogfather and Night Watch. I love all the Death novels loads too, I wish he was my grandfather. That supercilious twat Susan does not appreciate him enough :)

Yes Tiffany is in "Hat Full of Sky," but read "The Wee Free Men" first. The new one is in Ankh Morpork, but I haven't got very far yet. I need to be awake to read Pratchett, so I plowed through the Lackey first.
