Anyhow, hope yours is back soon. Wouldn't mind mine showing back up, as all this acting cheerful when I'm not really is tiring, and it wouldn't be so damned difficult if I actually remembered what it was to be in a good mood...
*snicker* You know it's April in Boston because the Red Sox are playing - not because the weather's improved.
Weather's nice in S. Florida at the moment - but the tradeoff for the nice weather in spring is hurricane season. And I'd rather not deal with that again, no thanks.
Yep, one hit the area the week before I got married (in the base chapel at Hanscom). But they've usually weakened significantly by the time they get that far north. Wilma was pretty darn ugly.
The only really bad one here was '38, and they're not even sure it still counted as a hurricane by the time it hit land. Although one took off the steeple of the old North Church back in the 1800s or earlier and it had to be rebuilt.
I'm just stewin' over the whole thyroid mess and wondering if I made the right decision about not moving to a bigger apartment.
Hope you don't mind me barging in here, but a little lj bird told me I might be of service to you in "the whole thyroid mess" if you'd care for a bit of commiseration and reassurance... been there, done that.
Let me know if you'd like to talk. sayhello15us at yahoo dot com
Nah, I don't mind. I'll add you to the "sickie" filter and you can check out the entry from the beginning of the month... That explains it pretty much.
Okies, I've read back from the first surgery. All caught up. I had papillary thyroid cancer 22 1/2 years ago. Total thyroidectomy, followed by one dose of radioactive iodine a year later to remove trace tissue. Cancer free ever since. On synthroid for life, but a fair trade as far as I'm concerned. :-) You've already experienced the surgery part. More of the same to come, likely.
Let me know if you have any questions or just want to chat/commiserate. It looks like you've got a couple of folks giving you some really great info. I can try to give you any info I have.
So glad they caught it early. I heard the same stuff as you "If you had to get cancer, this is the one to get" Generally totally curable via surgery, great chances of NO recurrence. Hereditary.
Well, I woke up with a lovely one--chipper, and glad to be celebrating two years as a fic writer, but after a day spent with my mother and brother--meh.
Not my brother's fault really, and he took me out with her for a lovely lunch at a nice restaurant. But my mother's idea of an after lunch birthday treat was to drive the *entire damn length* of Highway 90 along the beach from the broken bridge between Biloxi and Ocean Springs west to where the barricades are and you can't go any further.
*gah* So damn depressing, and now the lovely little fluffy fic I had in my head this AM has just gone completely bye-bye.
