rabidsamfan: (muncle)
Solo yawned first, blinking with the effort of it, but Kuryakin resisted temptation for nearly five minutes afterwards. When he finally succumbed, it was with a jaw-cracker that had his partner gaping sympathetically. After that, the yawns came thick and fast across the conference table, until Solo was heeling his palms against his watering eyes and Kuryakin nosed-dived into his portfolio and began treating the room to a fusillade of snores.

Alexander Waverly paused in his perusal of the data long enough to dismiss the pair of them to the infirmary. That was the trouble with the young. No stamina.

rabidsamfan: samwise gamgee, I must see it through (Default)
She caught Frodo's eye that first Yule, at the bonfire where all the village had gathered to sing songs and watch the long night through. A wide-eyed little one, with bright hair and a dress bedecked with intricate embroidery, who sat up longer than most of the children her age, listening to the stories and songs. She wasn't as grubby as the others, either, which Frodo knew betokened something, although he didn't have words to explain it, not even to himself.

Still, he watched her lean against her father's knee, and it made his heart hurt. Time to find Bilbo.

rabidsamfan: (watson jude law)
Lestrade's narrow face seemed to sharpen. "He took the boys with him?"

"Most of them. The ones without families to miss them."

"Then we are in dee..." Lestrade broke off abruptly and sprang to his feet, bowing to the doorway. "Mrs. Watson."

"Inspector," my wife replied with careful calm. She'd come up without removing her apron, betraying her concern to anyone who knew her well, but her voice was steady. "Have you had your breakfast?"

"No, ma'am."

"Then come downstairs and take some coffee while John dresses. Whatever the news, it will be easier to discuss over bacon and eggs."
