Y'know, I picked up the Emergency! first season on DVD, and I've been watching the episodes and realizing that modern special effects have robbed us of things like seeing the actual actors crouched under an asbestos blanket while real sparks fall down on top of them...

Oh, yes. Neither were in the first season, but I'm hoping that if it sells well enough they'll go on to the next season etc... Loved that show.

I used to watch that show religiously! I had such a crush on Gage! He made me want to be a paramedic. And yes, the snakebite episode was one of my favorites as well. <3!

That show made a lot of people want to be paramedics. Over on the IMDb there's a review that said that the show boosted the paramedic and EMT careers so strongly that they made twenty years worth of progress in the space of five years.

OMG, my ES is the biggest Emergency! fan ever. He flipped over it on Nickelodian when he was just about 7 or 8 and started taping them. We have probably a dozen or more tapes of the show lying around the house. I got a kick out of it because I used to have quite the crush on John Gage myself. And the snakebite ep was one of my favorites. Ah, memories!

I'm still waiting for the snakebite episode...

Ah, hurt/comfort. I was a fan, even then...

"Oh, man, I've been bit by a rattler!" And he has to give himself the IV! Ick! It was a real goodie, that ep.

Mmmmm, John Gage. Man, I loved that snake-bite episode, even though it stressed me out. When I was four I would have crawled over broken glass to meet John Gage and ride in his firetruck:op (But his homely friend with the big teeth creeped me out.)

Aw... Mind you, the broken glass would have been from the rest of us trampling through the tv screen to get at Johnny ourselves...

I can`t remember if it was called Emergency, but I can rememver sitting watching one of these programs on TV when I was growing up. It was from the 70s I think and we watched each saturday just after the news. I was very fascinated, lol.

Ain't technology wonderful! I but you'd watch these episodes with a "look, how quaint!" reaction to all the medical stuff. I swear, every episode, Dr. Brackett and Dr. Early go into a full diagnosis conference, debating possibilities.

(But lookee! Actual old people! Who look like old people! That show must have boosted the retirement checks of half of Hollywood.)
