Hurricane...

All you folks who live in Florida -- or are heading that way! -- take care, okay? Even a category one hurricane is nothing to get complacent about, and this one's moving slow enough to be a problem for hours and hours.

I'm at the hospital with an air mattress and enough food to keep a hobbit happy.

Husband caught the worst of it - he's on the east coast, and while I was on the phone with him last night he lost power - but still has water and phone.

An air mattress and food sounds really good, actually. The free paper up here had a big headline "Killer Katrina" on it... Why do people who don't have to do it persist in going out into big bad weather? When I was a kid in Omaha there was a big tornado that hit and while one death was tragic (the building collapsed, she was pinned under plumbing and drowned), the other was an idiot who climbed up onto a garage for a better look and got hit by a telephone pole...
