I had forgotten how deeply they delved into the history of the music hall and other regrettable examples of historical humor...

Very funny - I loved them to pieces. Which kind of accent had the cook? In the german version it's a danish one that sent me howling on the floor each time he appeared on the screen.

Swedish. The Swedish chef. And most of what he says is nonsense or goofy.

I loved the muppets when I was a kid, and now I can actually understand all the jokes that work in English, but not in Dutch, I love it even more, lol

We watched the show faithfully when it was in its heyday. My son was very young at the time. I will never forget the compliment he paid me.

All dressed up for church, my hair worn down and in curls (something I don't often do)

Son: (looking up at me with admiring eyes) "Mommy! You're as beautiful as Miss Piggy!"
*snerk*

This is the son who wanted to be Big Bird when he grew up.

*goggles* He would have had to grow quite a bit to be Big Bird. ;)

I'm not quite sure the episodes are in the same order as they were aired, but they are fun.

Oh, how I loved it. The silliness, the puns, the explosions!

And one of my very first crushes... Kermit. They say you have to kiss a lot of frogs to get a prince, but the frog is fine if its Kermit.

You are probably the one to ask this silly question of:
When my daughter was little she loved the muppets, especially Fozzie Bear. One day, when she was about three, she tried to repeat a joke she had heard him say on the show. This is how it came out:

"Why did the mato (tomato) go to the mato factory? Because it wanted to be a mato. Waka Waka Waka!"

We rolled on the floor laughing about it for years, BUT we never knew what the real joke could have been. Does this sound at all familiar to you? Have you heard a Fozzie Bear joke that could possibly have been turned into this by a little one?
