Lookee what [livejournal.com profile] elasg made for me! And she said I can share, too, if any of you like it.

I tweaked... that blue was too dark to read. See if you don't like this one better.

Sadly, even in fandom we have our OTPs. ;-)

Well, no, actually, that's the point. Until recently, I never saw anyone defending a pairing to the death, and on the whole preferences were met with a grin and a "different strokes" attitude. And it was fun! You didn't find yourself painted into a corner where part of your definition was which romance you favored. And if the canon suddenly went sideways you rolled up your sleeve and wrote AU with the happy assurance that if you said, "I've decided to see what might happen if character X made a different decision at this point" there'd be plenty of readers cheering for you to go on and find out.

I like the blue, butI have trouble reading "if" with the cloud behind it.

Your fandom experiences obviously diverge radically from mine. I've rarely been in a fandom where proponents of one pairing or another weren't screaming at those who favoured a different pairing.

Oh I love that! Someday if I ever get a paid account I might like one. And wouldn't it make a cool T-shirt?

Well, I started in fandom nearly thirty years ago, so my standard for "recent" is probably a bit longer than most folks.

It isn't so much that people like one pairing or the other, it's the "One True" part of the way that the argument is set up that seems to me to be causing a lot of damage. The newer paradigm forgets to say, "my favorite pairing", and leave room for another pairing which is someone else's favorite as equally worth writing about. And that leaves us all in little pockets, off in corners, sneering at other fans whom we'd probably like perfectly well if it weren't for the little lines of "I'm right and therefore you must be wrong" that we've drawn around ourselves by the way we've stated our preferences.

Do a refresh and look at that link again... I replaced the file. If the cloud is still too much, do you think plain blue or a slightly lighter 'halo' would be better? (YES, I am an obsessive perfectionist - I even annoy myself at times.)

Another thirty year fandom vet here... I hadn't seen this lunacy in any other fandom I have been part of. Of course, I was usually on the gen side of things, and we didn't have the internet 'back in the day' but there was generally a more tolerant attitude than I have noted lately.

Nah, the top of the "f" still blends into the question mark and forces me to look twice to be sure it isn't a "t". I didn't have any trouble with it on plain blue, though. That might work.

OK... replaced the file again and this time, I used just a slight lightening around the words. It's subtle but shows up but I think gives the effect I think you wanted. Heheheh!

But the T-Shirt wouldn't rotate the text. (Well, a Muggle T-shirt at least.)
