The wild thing about modern technology is being able to get on the internet and watch the radar loop as the hellacious big line of thunderstorms comes at you...

Wow. That would be rather wild! I must admit I would be just fascinated by it and just keep watching... I've always loved thunderstorms!

I love 'em too, but I respect them. My phone *dinged* at least four times last night, which means a strike near enough to miss a transformer...

omg, I love to do that!

Did that during the hurricanes last summer, too. Was fascinating to watch Francis, especially, get closer and closer...

But yes! You better unhook and batten down the hatches now!

Too cool. I'm doing the same thing with 60-90 mph straight line winds (complete with a microburst) passing through - had to look to see if we're watching the same storm! (Midwest, here - yes, this IS Kansas, Toto)

The joy of the net!

I just remember driving back and forth across the country with a friend who'd never been out of Massachusetts. She couldn't get over the fact that in Nebraska, you had to push a little button in the Rest Stops to get the weather report and in Kansas it was on the public speaker all the time in every Rest Area we came to.

When I was a baby, my family was in a tornado in Nebraska. We were hiding under the beds in a hotel room, apparently. *shivers*

When I was in high school we lived in Omaha, and I still remember the color of the sky from the day the tornado touched down about twenty blocks west of me. I remember sitting in the basement with our fingers and toes crossed for luck, too!
