Can't think of anything epic, so you'll have to settle for these:

All dwarfs are by nature dutiful, serious, literate, obedient and thoughtful people whose only minor failing is a tendency, after one drink, to rush at enemies screaming "Arrrrrrgh!" and axing their legs off at the knee.

-- (Terry Pratchett, Guards! Guards!)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

People who are rather more than six feet tall and nearly as broad across the shoulders often have uneventful journeys. People jump out at them from behind rocks then say things like, "Oh. Sorry. I thought you were someone else."

-- Carrot travels to Ankh-Morpork (Terry Pratchett, Guards! Guards!)

Shirebound asked folks to post a quote. She wanted inspirational ones, I think, but I can't think of any good ones.

I *love* Terry Pratchett. No one can make more elaborate puns without being obvious.

By the way RSF, I would love to nominate one of your drabble series for a MEFA, but I can't seem to find it all together in one spot.

Which series? I'll put it together in one spot for incentive like that...

The one you did on the Nine, the Nazgul. I was really impressed by it, and thought it would be great in the villians category!

Okay. I'll put it up at ff.n.

What do you think, the whole thing as one "chapter" or a separate chapter for each Nazgul?

I think it would be all right to put them all together, as long as it was clear they were separate drabbles.

Okay. It's here:

Tell me if you think it would be better broken up. I'm iffy.

I think it's brilliant! And even more impactful together that way: you get a sense that these wraiths actually have individual personalities--not something I'd attributed to any of them save the WK before. I'm going to go ahead and nominate.

Did you join MEFA yet? This is way cool!

Ooops. Little snag. Could you email me privately: aelfwina at cableone dot net ? There are a couple of more things I need to know to get the nomination going.
