Okay computer types out there... Why would my clipboard suddenly refuse to copy from Internet Explorer to Word? And occasionally vice versa?

It's getting very annoying!

Reboot... I've had that happen too. Not sure what causes it, but rebooting usually fixes it for me.

Well, when I'm forced to reboot I do, but I got bitten badly by a virus that set its tentacles when you restarted the machine so I'm chary of it. And besides, on the advice of the guy in Best Buy I bought the student/teacher version of Office (he said librarians counted) and it turned out that I need a school code to register the darn thing. So I've been keeping Word open for weeks at a time and hibernating the machine instead of turning it off trying to stretch out the day until I have to go in and put down 400 on the regular Office package.

Hmmm.... Ouch. OK. Try going into the task manager and shutting down the clipboard process, if you know the name of the process.

What version of Word do you have? I can give you an Office 97 if you want one (and probably a copy of Office 2000 if you don't ask too many questions. ;)) You game?

*squirrely frown* Not really sure. It's Office Standard XP for Students and Teachers, and I think it's equivalent to Office 2000. I'm game for details though. My E-mail is rabidsamfan at gmail now.

I know that repairing permissions can fix little glitches like that sometimes on a Mac. Can you do that on Windows?

If I knew what permissions were I'd try it! (I am so very self-taught...)

I have no idea if you can do it but on my machine you go to applications>utilities>disk utility. In that you select a volume/drive and click repair permissions.

Maybe send Ancalime an email since she works with that kind of thing.

Mine does that occassionally but it never lasts. I haven't got the slightest clue. Sorry about that.
