You finally make it into work and discover that you'd forgotten about a program that was supposed to happen, forgotten about some paperwork that was supposed to go in, and completely forgotten that your place of employment was going to be closed for a local holiday on Thursday.

And no, it's not for St. Patrick's day. It's for Evacuation Day -- the day the British left Boston during the Revolutionary war.

But the most truly excellent news is that I stopped at Borders on the way home and they have a lovely sale where you buy a children's DVD and get 25% off any other regularly priced DVD -- including boxed sets. I just saved fifty bucks on the complete Monty Python.

I also picked up the second Looney Tunes Golden Collection, so I am now happily overdosing on Bugs Bunny.

Actually, it IS for St. Patrick's Day. The infamous Mayor Michael Curley wanted to have St Paddy's as a holiday. So he instructed his people to find some legit reason to have March 17th off. They discovered that it was the day the British evacuated Boston for good. Hence...we have Evacuation Day.

But everyone knows it's really St Patrick's Day. Heh.

Hmmm. It would be interesting to know if the banquet mentioned here: http://www.southbostoncitizens.org/events/2002/sbca_events_evac_day_2002.htm really has taken place all those years then.

Yeah. I've been eyeing the box set for years, and the temptation was just too much.

Monty Pyton is fun! I have "life of Brian" but not the rest of the series.

Feel better soon!

Life of Brian is probably the one Monty Python I wouldn't buy -- I've got the Grail, though, and that's a wonderfully re-watchable delight.

Wish I could screencap though. There's one image in Grail I've always loved.

If you saw the collection of videos that I have (and still watch) you wouldn't feel so dated. After all, some of mine are Beta!
