I think I've forgotten what it means to feel warm, Mr. Frodo, and begging your pardon, but it's made me fratchety-like. I'm not best pleased with Mr. Merry or that rascal Pippin, fooling with my spices and all; nor Gandalf and Strider, neither, insisting on no fires day nor night and no matter how much rain or wind. That Boromir still treats us like children half the time, and as for the Elf and the Dwarf! Pride, Gandalf calls it, the way they go on at each other like tweens peacocking in front of a pretty lass. Making an uncomfortable journey worse for all of us is what I call it, and so would my Dad. A Dwarf does this, and an Elf does that, and nothing being done while they flap their gums. Let 'em do something useful I say, and until then they're all leaf and no taters.

ROTFLMAO. Oh, dear Sam. He does have some wonderful one-liners: all leaf and no taters. They are, indeed. :D

I was re-reading Thundera Tiger's wonderful story "While the Ring Went South" and I kept waiting for Sam to read the pair of them the riot act. Honestly!

Ooh, cross!Sam--how funny! I do love the things that he finds irritating about each and every member of the company except, of course, Mr. Frodo! LOL! Especially his crossness with Legolas and Gimli. Poor Sam, to be disillusioned by an Elf of all people! "All leaf and no taters" indeed! *snicker*giggle*grin*
(And *what* did Merry and Pippin do to his spices, I wonder?)

I suspect that Merry and Pippin upset Sam's careful rationing and meal planning, more than anything else. I can't imagine a hobbit who'd contaminate cooking ingredients after all... Well... except perhaps in the interests of trying something new...

You do Sam's voice so very well, I can hear him talking.

I'd comment on the other drabbles (Pippin, yes, it is an adventure... sounds like him!) but I really cannot stay awake any longer.

Stay warm. Send us some rain, or snow, or somewhat. We're looking at a nasty drought this summer, water shortage and all that. Poor garden!

(Did Sam ever face a drought? Besides Mordor, I mean?)

I suspect that Sam's idea of drought and mine are very different. The first time I went to England they were worried about a drought because it was May and it was only raining at night. *Denver girl raises an eyebrow as she looks out at all the greenness.*

*snorts* I love it when Sam loses his patience. Simpply wonderful.

Thank you.

And Thank you for the icon-rec!

I like this one. The only problem I have with some of the icons is the practice of putting little bitty words at the bottom. Still... The view is nice!

...all leaf and no taters...

That's about the best Sam inner-dialogue I've ever read!

I thought it up and then I couldn't resist. Though it did take 150 words to get all the grumbling in this time.

I get tired of EternalOptimist!Sam in fanfic sometimes. I see him more as a hobbit who's learned to make the best of what he's got on his plate and not fuss too much over what's not there.
