feeling guilty

I have fallen back into my evil ways and have not been answering comments when people say nice things about my ficlets. I just can't think of enough ways to say "thank you," and to tell the painful truth, there are only a scattering of comments that I want to say more than that in reply to. As some of you may have gathered, I'm in a grand blue funk of late, and I'd rather put the energy I've got into writing something, or keeping my temper with the kids at work. Although I did go and see eight middle school classes today and was more amused than appalled, but that may have been because I was particularly lucky in hitting classes when their worst troublemakers were out of the room. Except for Jamal and Denebria, both of whom get points for having stood out well enough for me to learn their names in less than twenty minutes.

Anyway. I do appreciate the comments, and dote over them when I need an ego-boost. Really. If I knew how to do the fancy scrolling sparkly words I'd put a big THANK YOU here, but I don't, so I guess this apology will have to do.

It'll get better, it always does, but this is the wretched part...

You really don't have to answer all the comments. Every LJer has a different style when it comes to dealing with comments (whether fb or other types of comments), and I think/hope that most of us recognise that. I comment in a lot of LJs where I don't get regular comments back, but it pleases me to comment so I do it anyway. Knowing that the OP reads and appreciates the comments is enough, I think. For me, at least. :)

Well, I'm the opposite- I read all of them, but I don't comment on most of them. :-) Most of the time, I can't think of anything more to say than "wonderful". But that indeed would be better than nothing.

I have loved every drabble you've written this week, and I hope that the funk you're in kicks the bucket soon. When it comes to responses, I don't usually expect one back unless I know the person regularly responds. I'm sure most people will understand if you don't respond.

See, I know you appreciate your comments, so I understand why you don't respond to them unless you can and have to. That's my thing when it comes to the comment thing - I like knowing that that time I took to read and comment has been appreciated, and the writer can give back that much more in turn. But, well, as I said, I know you do appreciate them, so you just do as you do and don't worry about apologizing. Okay?

I don't post comments to all your drabbles, but I do enjoy all of them! I understand about being in a funk, but yeah -- I'd rather you write than focus on comment answering! ;-)

And it's funny -- I have a Jamal in my class -- and he's the opposite. He's a complete and utter sweetheart. One of those kids that is ALWAYS doing what he's supposed to be doing...

You don't have to reply to every single comment, only the ones you want to. I hope your drabbles get you going and cheer you up a bit. Frodo's bath water is probably getting cold, LOL!
I know what you mean about kids' names. When I was a sub, the only ones you could remember by name were the ones you spent the day repeating: "Earl, be quiet." "Earl, keep your hands to yourself." "Earl, get back in your seat." "Earl, we do not eat paper in this class..."
