List five fictional people -- from television, movies, books, whatever -- that you had a crush on as a child (or early teens). Then post this on your LiveJournal so other people can know what a dork you've always been.

Hmmm. I wonder if desperately wishing to meet someone with no clue about romance in my head counts?

1. Johnny Quest
2. Tonto (yes, from The Lone Ranger)
3. Johnny Gage (from Emergency!)
4. Jim Frayne (from the Trixie Belden books)
5. Barney Collier (from Mission Impossible)

E.T.A. I gacked this from about a fifth of my friends list...

Oh yeah! Remember the episode where he got bit by the rattlesnake? Or the one where he got sick and fainted halfway up the side of a building?

I really wish I could get those on DVD!

Oh, yes. It sounds terrible doesn't it, to say that we loved best the episodes where our favorite people got hurt, but everyone was so flipping stoic on those shows that it was just about the only time they showed they cared!

*Confessions of a Teen Angst Maven*

Remember the episode where he got bit by the rattlesnake?

Oh, gods, yes... If only I'd had a VCR...

I missed the one where he fainted halfway up the side of the building...

how about the one where he got hit by a car coming out of... a bar, was it? ...just after finishing treating a sick woman?

Hmm. Don't remember that one. The one where he fainted was where there was meningitis or something going around carried by a bird. I remember the way his helmet kind of floated down...

Man I wish those shows were out on DVD!

Hmmm, meningitis going around, rings a bell. Was that the one where one of the doctors fell deathly ill? I remember the other doctor running in, all excited, saying, "We've isolated it!" or "We know what it is!" or that they knew how to treat it or something, and the nurse said in an exhausted voice, "He doesn't hear you, doctor." Talk about angst!

One of the very first fanfic stories I ever actually got published in a zine was a Lone Ranger story...

Heheh, what a great meme! I'm just wondering if I'm brave enough to admit to any of my crushes. Ahem. Do they *have* to be people, do you think? LOL

Do you think Snork from the Banana Splits club actually counts as a crush though? The Bugaboos might...

Didja know that they're reprinting the Belden books? With decent bindings, too!

Five was not nearly enough. I had to skip over The Artful Dodger from Oliver! and both of the boys from Maya, and Robin the Boy Wonder (mostly from the comic book, though I did play Batman from the TV show.) And there was Jan-Michael Vincent's character on Danger Island and Jim Reed from Adam-12 and Pete and Linc from Mod Squad...

And that was all when I still thought boys were yucky! The list got a lot longer later. But had fewer fictinal characters in it... *grin*

Heath Barkley... or was it Barclay? From Big Valley
Manolito from High Chapparal
Starbuck and Apollo from the original Galactica (doesn't matter that Dirk Benedict is such a wooden actor, he certainly had a pretty face)
Starsky and Hutch?
Those two detective brothers, I forget, Simon and Simon?
Magnum P.I.
Some of the guys from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea? (the first fanfic I ever read was when a friend wrote a VTBS story)
Sulu and Chekhov from Star Trek? (second fanfic I ever read; same friend)
Illya from Man from U.N.C.L.E. (didn't matter that I was just a little kid at the time)

Man I used to waste a lot of time in front of the tube.

I'm with you on #3, Fellow Dork! Of course, my first big crush was on Jiminey Cricket. Man, could that cricket sing! I still get swoony over him. *sighs*

Yes, it must be confessed the Jiminy was in the list somewhere. Just not near the top five. Of course my oldest sisters' first love -- according to the stories my mom tells -- was Speedy, the Alka Seltzer boy from the commercials. When she was small she would run to the TV whenever he was on it crying "'peedie! 'peedie!"

Johnny Quest! When I was about 9 I'd make up adventures for him and Hadji.
Heh. I think I might have had slashy thoughts even back then. ;)

Don't forget Sherlock Holmes. "Women, even the best of them, cannot be trusted. Their motives are so inscrutable- how can you build on such a quicksand?"

BTW, I guest-recced Marigold's page this week and listed "Fourteen Days" as a best bet. I love that story.

Thank you for the rec! I'm still very fond of it myself.

And while I liked Holmes, if I had a crush at all it was on Watson...

(what can I say? I like the sidekicks!)
