But I think I'd almost rather y'all stopped using LJ-cuts. Especially on fic. Because I paid for my LJ so that I could get notifications on the things I posted, and have them in my readily searchable email, and the latest LJ update won't give me anything under a cut in the notification email.

Not thrilled.

Why do they keep breaking comments?

I'm actually a little more tolerant of that sort of buggy behavior now that I'm working in a software development arena. Every time there's a new build, some things get fixed and others that used to work get broken and QA has to do regression analysis to figure out why the things that used to work don't anymore. I've gotten used to things breaking.

Actually, this seems to be something they've designed in deliberately. As if it were a bonus.

*sigh*

Maybe I'm interpreting what they said wrong. I thought it just meant that if I get comment notifications of a post, the comment will show up in my notification email, but only the part of the post that isn't behind a cut, thus limiting the amount of scrolling I have to do to get to the comment itself.

I'm actually kind of happy about it because if I do a picspam, the entire post won't get reproduced in my inbox every single time someone comments.

It would be nice if it were opt in, though.

I pay for my LJ so that I can get notifications on the comments I make. It does two things. First, it encourages me to comment on fic I like. Second, it means I can search my gmail for entries that either I wrote or commented on with a fair degree of efficiency. I've already filtered it down to the part of LJ I'm interested in, you see.

And of course, if someone takes down their story in a fit of "I have to clean out my fandom life!" or embarrassment at writing they think of as being bad in retrospect, I've still got the story. And I'm a rereader.

(And in gmail, the repeated part of the email gets cut, so I only see the whole entry once anyway.)

Ah, well, it makes sense to be annoyed then. I do wish they'd quit tinkering with things that don't need to be tinkered with. Or, like you say, make all of the changes opt-in, especially for paid accounts.

I just cut and paste to Word if I like something well enough to reread, and paste the url at the bottom.

I thought I was the only one irritated with that change - I like having an uncut email alert notification. :( Soooo tired of wheel reinvention...
