rabidsamfan: samwise gamgee, I must see it through (Default)

It has been the birthday of Bad Decisions for me, alas, as I still haven't cleaned my house, I couldn't finish anything of the lunch I went out to have, and there was no cheesecake. I shouldn't have even tried the blood orange Cosmo (I drink alcohol once in a blue moon and it made me very very sleepy.) Gmail has taken away my option to use the old view, and I really hate the new view LOTS so I'm going to only use html out of spite and that means no chatting, not that anyone but my sister ever chats with me much these days. It was raining, cold, and not very windy, so I didn't go sailing, and my attempt to write a "how to solve sudoku" book needs help. Or a blow torch, I can't decide which. And I think my computer is dying.

But I did get a wonderfully silly phone call from a friend, and I took a moment to read this Sherlockian poem by KCS, which is good, as it won't be there long, and I adored it.

ETA, other good reads for the day here:

keelywolfe.livejournal.com/543900.html (A great John!whump Sherlock BBC.)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17777556 (A defense of magniloquence.)

I got a drabble from [livejournal.com profile] lame_pegasus but it's friendslocked... And several birthday greetings I see as I work down through my flist, as well as a couple from friends via facebook. So it's better, it's better...

I hope so! Hey, you know the glass is always full, just sometimes the top half is full of air!

*hugs* I was so ticked off at Gmail that I went through their "suggestions" forum and sent them a "suggestion" that they give people an opt-out for an unnecessary and unwanted change. Not that it will do any good but it made me feel a bit better. Absolutely hate the new view.

:( Sorry your birthday was not the greatest, though. Hopefully you will have a fantastic week to make up for it! *hugs*

If enough of us switch to html only that might make an impression.

The blue theme is almost tolerable, headache wise, but I really dislike the way they've replaced words with icons. If I weren't literate, I wouldn't be using email, thank you very much.

Your poem did help though. Thank you for that!

You can go into "Settings" and change that back to text. I did. I hate the new view, too, but that makes it a LITTLE better... just a little v.v So does switching to the "compact" view, and putting a theme on it.

You can change the icons to text? Which setting is that? I did try the blue theme, though.

Go to the gear, pick the "settings" menu option, scroll down to the part that says "button labels", and switch from icons to text :)

I'm sorry your birthday was a disappointment, but I hope the year that follows it brings only good things!

Disappointing is better than disastrous, so I'll get by. Thanks!

Aw, I'm sorry your birthday wasn't the way you would've wanted. *hugs* Happy Birthday anyway, and hopefully the rest of the year will be better. :)
