rabidsamfanI got an email while I was sleeping that Mayor Bloomburg in NY was doing what had been done in Denver and Oakland and rousting out the Occupy camp in the middle of the night. Haven't read the news yet, to confirm, although I'm pretty sure it's true.
And I can't believe that he's that stupid. Didn't these mayors *notice* London burning earlier this year? We've got a whole lot of angry, frustrated people, most of them young, who feel like they've got nothing to lose, and by lucky chance we got a movement whose leaders, such as they were, are dedicated to non-violence. And the powers that be are busy arresting those leaders and trying to break up the movement. Which means the impetus for non-violence is going to be weakened. And young, angry people don't have great impulse control.
I remember the sixties. The property damage is going to be horrific. And unlike then, I doubt very much that it will stay in the "poorer" neighborhoods.
Idiots, just plain idiots. If you've got a peaceful protest, let it stay peaceful!
