what am I doing here
I'm in the wrong story!

I pack a little, carry stuff down the *&^%$! stairs, come back up, check lj while I catch my breath... start over...

If anyone's not busy working, do me a favor and point me in the direction of some drabbles... I can't get in trouble reading a hundred words in a five minute break...can I?

Almost drabble

"Sam? What are you doing?" Frodo stood in the doorway to one of Bag Ends numerous cellars, watching as his gardener and friend lifted box after box out of the cellar.

"Why, I`m emptying it. It`s not been cleaned down there for ages I think. I can`t remember Mr. Bilbo ever going down here."

"He probably didn`t. I can`t remember being there myself." Frodo said, laughing, while shaking his head. "I`ll give you a hand."

"What`s in all these boxes anyeay?" Sam asked after lifting a perticularly heavy one.

"Oh... Books I believe." Frodo said, stretching his back.

There, my very first attempt at a drabble. Not good, not betaed, just something that popped into my mind in sympathy.

Don`t break your back now. *hugs*

It's not the back, it's the knees. And the lungs. It's eightyfive degrees (Fahrenheit -- I have no clue what that is Celsius at the moment).

I like the drabble. You should drabble some more. It's fun!

and another 5 minute break drabble for you :-) ( from a friend who is supposed to be working instead of "drabbling" too...)

The last beams of the sinking sun shone through the window and tinted the old kitchen at Bag End in a golden hue. Frodo stood staring at an old cracked teapot. There was a tiny piece missing on its lid. Frodo was again a lad , visiting his uncle and too eager to help him with the tea. When he poured the boiling hot water from the kettle into the pot, some of it spilled on his hand and burnt it and in that instant he let go of the lid. Along with the lid, the memory shattered on the floor.

Oh sweet! That's a marvelous drabble -- I can see Frodo caught by the memory.

Thank you!

Hope these help...

And of course, there's always [livejournal.com profile] teasel's lovely drabbles, as well:
