Jul. 31st, 2009 11:44 pmFrom half my flist:
1. He sent a telegram back to Baker Street because his new fellow lodger had had enough shocks for one evening and didn't need any additional worries.
2. With Moran safely in the cells at Scotland Yard, a blanket pinned over the broken window, and Mrs. Hudson's fine celebratory dinner inside us we talked till all hours, but at last the wine and the aftermath of all the day's excitement left us both drowsy.
3. The pain had been an old friend, as familiar as the lullabies of my childhood.
4. October gave way to November, and Watson reverted to his chair by the fire, finally glad that the Army had refused him that summer.
5. The brown suit disappears out of the wardrobe on Tuesday, and when it turns up again, it is ensconced in Mrs. Hudson's mending basket where it will stay until she can find matches for the one remaining button.
6. "Gives you a warm feeling doesn't it, knowing Gibbs trusts us with a contaminated crime scene?" I ask Gerald, and he laughs, but I've got to admit that I'm wondering why Gibbs is trusting Kate to work the boat alone.
7. New job.
8. It was an oubliette after all, and nothing to done about it except to wait for Steed to come to the rescue.
9. "Like certain species of frogs, I grow what I need," she told me, and I was hard put to keep a straight face.
10. The Mayor of Hobbiton knew maps were for planning.
11. The boots caught it first and then the maid, which proved how convenient it was to have a valetudinarian physician for a tenant, confined to the house though he was by wind-blown snow.
12. I woke to find myself tucked up in bed wearing a threadbare nightshirt which fit badly, a half empty carafe of water and a glass on the bedtable beside me and a stiff, dry, fever rag fallen to the pillow next my head.
13. There were some small indications - a chess piece moved in his absence, the feeling of being watched discreetly from the other chair - but for the most part Holmes had to be content with the knowledge that Watson was gaining back his strength and beginning to move more easily, keeping up the pace on their daily walks, as if he'd finally noticed that the weight of chains no longer bound him.
14. "The Colonel says ain't no one gets to see him till they've took a turn feeding the goat, but you won't mind that once you've tried it."
15. Watson did his best for the wounded men, because blood and bone made sense even if shattered oak panelling and debris-strewn carpet did not.
16. I became convinced that I was dying.
17. I lit my pipe, buying time to think before I spoke.
18. "Work!" I cried, stung by the return of my own words.
19. "Move back to Baker Street?" I exclaimed.
20. "You wish me to buy a medical practice in Kensington?"
Patterns? Lots of dialogue, lots of complex or compound sentences. Lots of first person, lots of angsty hints. Holmes, NCIS and New Avengers all mixed up together.

I just love that unlikely comparison. It makes me wonder about "she" and think that she must have a wry sense of humour. :D
