I literally got out of bed and sat down and wrote this one in two minutes, hitting exactly 100 words on the first draft, which is why I'm posting it, even though it's a very odd bunny and I'm not quite sure where it came from. Warning for Sherlockian slash, and character death.

Royal Command

When I saw Mrs. Godfrey Norton listed among those lost aboard the ill-fated ship Naiad, I sent a note of condolence to the King of Bohemia, knowing from bitter experience how difficult it was to find oneself in mourning for someone who would never have the comfort of a grave.

A week later he came to my surgery to ask why Holmes had wanted the picture of Irene Adler and in answer I let him read my diary. He did so, silently, and then passed the notebook back to me.

"Publish it," he ordered gruffly. "They should both be remembered."
