You finally make it into work and discover that you'd forgotten about a program that was supposed to happen, forgotten about some paperwork that was supposed to go in, and completely forgotten that your place of employment was going to be closed for a local holiday on Thursday.

And no, it's not for St. Patrick's day. It's for Evacuation Day -- the day the British left Boston during the Revolutionary war.

But the most truly excellent news is that I stopped at Borders on the way home and they have a lovely sale where you buy a children's DVD and get 25% off any other regularly priced DVD -- including boxed sets. I just saved fifty bucks on the complete Monty Python.

Hmmm. It would be interesting to know if the banquet mentioned here: http://www.southbostoncitizens.org/events/2002/sbca_events_evac_day_2002.htm really has taken place all those years then.
