Toes toes toes

Woke up to the radio having a conversation which made me mildly interested in going to a website where someone is trying to sell a book, and now he's got me wondering. His references say 20 percent of the population has a "long second toe" or rather a short big toe, but is that so?

So, a poll:

How about if your second toe is the same length as your big toe?

Whoops, I knew there was a question I should have put in there...
He's really talking about metatarsal bones, but I figured that would confuse people.

In the interests of increasing your sample size I'll also give you my Littlest Roommate's answers, having picked her up and examined her toes.

I'd never really noticed before, but on my right foot my second toe is longer then my big toe and on my left foot my big toe is longer then second toe :)

*blink*

Wow. I bet that's unusual.

My mom always says that human anatomy courses only teach you the approximations. Everyone is different than the textbooks in one way or another. (Her brother had seven bile ducts, for example. The normal human complement is two.)

I think my dad has a second toe longer than the big toe!

Baron Corvo claimed that a longer second toe was considered a sign of beauty by the ancients.

My second toes are shorter than my big toes, but only just. They're almost the same length. And yeah, when I havn't shaved them in a while, they tend to be covered in fuzz. ;)

My big toe and second toe are the same length.
However, my sixth and seventh toes are infinitely more interesting... *tonguecheek*

And then there's the whole thing about relative lengths of index and ring fingers and gender!

Yay, I'm in the 20%. I like being weird. ^_^

my toes are almost the same length, however my roommate concurs that my second toe is longer.

My big toes are malformed from my arthritis and curl upwards -- so they at least appear to be shorter than my second toes LOL

Actually, I must confess: I only *WISH* my toes were covered with hobbit fuzz...

But, but, doesn't it depend partially on where your toes start from your foot? My *foot* is longer in the middle than at the sides. The toes are pretty close to the same length. The large one is a lot thicker. But the *length* is about the same.

Same thing with people's little fingers starting farther down the hand. Sure, it's shorter, too. But with a lot of people, it isn't as much shorter as it looks.
