Call Them Unintentional Benefits

I did not want to be mollified by this information. There was no denying, however, that I took a certain grim satisfaction in knowing that Anstruther would be able to give whichever "fancypants doctor" Mycroft Holmes had coerced into accompanying his brother on a sea voyage precise details concerning Sherlock Holmes's condition, previous treatment, and excessive reluctance to conform to medical advice. There were other advantages as well: If Holmes were incommunicado he would not be fretting over the newspapers. And if he were mid-ocean, I would not be spending his convalescence trying to tie him down to a bed.
