ETA: I have a few words where I'd dispute the definition... they've got one that's close, but definitely not a cigar, listed as the right definition. (Gramayre is not necromancy, thank you very much...) But on the whole it's quite enlightening.

Hee! I just posted about this, too! Same here - can't stay at 50, but am inordinately pleased when I hit it. (the site really does have some vocab building benefits to its addictiveness)

Yes, I meant to go back and add who I gacked it from (which was you) but I started playing again *hangs head...*

After the first few questions it seems to want to put me at level 40 and work up from there. I'm going to go play with deliberately missing the first few words to see what kind of words it might give my kids to learn.

Yes - that seems almost to be a default place, though I just went back there and had to start at level 11. First time that happened - usually it would start at 40ish, then go up or down. Unfortunately it doesn't save my triumphs (such as they are...) and each time I leave the site I have to start over.

(I don't mind not having gack-credit - just glad you enjoyed!)

There's a setting where you can get the computer to remember you and where you were, but then you wouldn't see the repeat words as often, I think.

Thank you! I will try that. When I go there for another 'fix', it's a nuisance to have to work up from 11. (and already a time hog) And the more words to learn, the merrier!

I was feeling extra competitive when Tiriel zoomed immediately to 50, with a 'pshaw, that old thing?' - determined to get there! Took me longer... But the process was interesting because there were lots of words where it wasn't a decision actually in my consciousness, but more an intuition, a gut thing.
