Groan. Most of mine will have to be entered by hand. It will be far quicker than trying to find them in libraries.

They have a lot of academic libraries to tap, actually. The ones I've hand entered have mostly been popular fiction of the juvenile variety or book club editions.

Yes, they do, but I wasn't having much luck finding some of my books that way, so I decided that it might be quicker to embrace defeat and type them in. I want the correct editions entered and in many cases that will involve getting the suckers off the shelves and checking. I gave up on cataloguing my books around 1990, so my hand-written copy is a little out-of-date.

I'll have to save this project for a rainy week or two. I have thousands of books. :(

Me too. I found myself paying for a lifetime membership within about two hours of starting.

I want correct editions myself, and I'm fair fussy about it! Once you've got something in, though, you can edit if someone's messed up, and submit your own cover too. I've had some luck using the UK version instead of the US version for some of my copies.

It will be better when Oxford University's catalogue is up and running on the site. I've been using the National Library of Scotland, but they don't always give the date of publication, and so far I've failed to find my edition of The Hobbit. However, I'll be paying for a lifetime membership before the night is out. :D

Did you try searching it under Works? They've got an extensive list of editions there.

Ayuh. I'm not even trying to put my books in without having them at my elbow so I can get things right.

I'd redesign the entry process if I were in charge, but I can see how this works for most folks.

It would be better if one could enter the publication date and other details in order to narrow down the search. If I have an obscure edition/impression of a well-known book, I don't want to wade through a hundred hits to see if mine is there. I expect the site will improve as it goes on.
