Just make sure they do everything in their power to numb you. I never had much post-canal discomfort, but apparently some other folks have. You'll be relieved when it's done, though. That tooth will never hurt you again.

I feel your pain. *shudders*

Wait until the Tylenol hits in before you read the newest version. *grins*

It's generic vicodin. Not looking forward to taking it, because that stuff makes me feel like yarking. Why do they always feel like they can't just give you little bitty hydrocodone pills instead of these horse things? I'm much less likely to yark with one drug at a time.

The two together usually work better - synergistic effect. But if the hydrocodone works better for you on it's own or makes you less nauseated, you might mention it to your dentist. *hugs*

Unfortunately, he's not open on Sundays, and I had a barbecue I really wanted to go to yesterday afternoon, so I didn't see this until today. (The barbecue was okay... I took one pill just as the novocaine was wearing off, but I'd eaten already, and it didn't bother me. Later, though, when I took the second round... Gah!)

Given the trouble I had with the lortab in Colorado, food or no, I think I've proven conclusively that for me, the combined pills are asking for trouble. After the second thyroid surgery we went to taking the hydrocodone and then taking the tylenol two hours later and that was okay. Curiously, since then tylenol and I aren't all that friendly. I find myself avoiding it whenever possible.

I get new tooth instead (meaning pin in jaw plus new crown) instead of root canal and third filling. Oh joy. Not.

Well, the worst part of my root canal was dreading it. And the fact that I had to keep my mouth open for such a long time. Really, it wasn't so bad. Just take your pain pill if you need it.

Shirebound is right. That tooth will never hurt you again. So that sort of makes the dread worth it! *hugs*

Aw, *hugs* I've been there, and found it not too bad. I bizarrely recorded it as it was the adventures of Percy the zombie tooth ;) He's actually King Percy now, as he has been crowned.

Yes, one of my teeth has its own tag. That's probably a bit wrong.

Oh, my... actually that was fun reading. And a little reassuring, as I still have to do most of the process. Yesterday he just scraped out nerve and put in meds and did the temporary thing. I have no idea how many roots are dead or anything. But I hurt today, that's for sure. He said a couple of days and I'd feel better, but I'm still waiting.

I like this dentist. He's fast and he's cheerful and he doesn't yell at me. But I can't help but wonder if he wasn't a little too fast on the filling...

You shouldn't feel any pain at all during the operation, and if you do, let the dentist know at once. Gosh, it was all I could do to not fall asleep during the last one I had. It was so boring. The worst part was holding your month open for so long. And afterward you take pain pills for a day and cuddle up and sleep. you should be fine after that. But do have someone to drive you home or take a taxi.

It's walking distance, fortunately. About three blocks from my house.

Not looking forward to keeping my mouth open. My tongue always gets in the way and the assistant doesn't understand the "do the suction thing before I choke" signal very well.
