Oh! I really loved this! The images you painted with your words reminded me so much and so fondly of camping. I love to get up really early when we camp and rekindle the fire and just enjoy it for a few minutes as the sun begins to rise. I love being outside the tent, just all by myself while everyone else is sleeping and the camp is so quiet except for the tiny sounds of the forest - little birds beginning to come awake with the first light, dew dripping off the trees onto the bed of leaves below, the occasional snap of a twig. Then, when I'm all warm from the fire, I start making breakfast - bacon, eggs, pancakes or toast (or both!), hashbrowns (all cooked over an open fire, of course!). I don't even have to wake the rest of my group - the smell of breakfast does it and does it well.
I know the Fellowship was not on a pleasure trip, but I love to think of (and read about) them possibly finding a few moments of pleasure such as the one you described above (and I have, somewhat, experienced myself).
