rabidsamfan: samwise gamgee, I must see it through (quest)
This year I went to the pinch hit list, which was a bit nervous making, but I got back two stories and a drabble!

The first story was for the Wild Wild West, and the second story (and the drabble) were both for Minions.

*spins with happiness*

Go! Read! Giggle!

The Night of the Captured Agent (1183 words) by donutsweeper
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Wild Wild West (TV)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: James West, Artemus Gordon
Additional Tags: Rescue, Yuletide, Yuletide Treat
Summary:

Jim had managed to get himself out of worse situations than this before, he could get out of this one, couldn't he?

This one made me want to haul out my DVDs. A problem, since I was in Denver and they were in Boston. But oh, such fun! And I love the rescue!

Excerpts from “Woman in Red”, the Unofficial Biography of Scarlet Overkill (1170 words) by Chibifukurou
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Minions (2015)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Herb Overkill/Scarlet Overkill
Additional Tags: Epistolary, Character Study
Summary:

Most of what we know about Scarlet Overkill’s early life has been extrapolated through hospital records and stories from neighbors and long time residents of the small town where Scarlet was born and raised. During her active career Scarlet claimed to be an orphan. Whether this was because she was embarrassed to have come from Non-villainous parents or because she felt it gave her a better backstory this writer doubts we'll ever know. (Due to the fact that the family has been in hiding since the freak volcano eruption which gold plated the Overton family home the day of Scarlet and Herb Overkill’s wedding)

*stamps with headcanon stamps* *thump thump thump* A five banana review!

Dreamer (100 words) by Merlin Missy
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Minions (2015)
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Scarlet Overkill
Additional Tags: Yuletide Madness Drabble Invitational, Supervillains, Misses Clause Challenge
Summary:

Scarlet dreams big.

A small delight. And just a bit sweet, too.

Theobromine is the story I received for Holmestice this round, and it's Great Mouse Detective fic with Dawson being all doctorly and Basil in the grip of a terrible addiction. I truly loved this fic, and it needs more readers.

And this one, about Mike Stamford of the BBC Sherlock'verse is one of those stories. Blame it on me wanting to be able to find it whenever I want a giggle, okay? But trust me, this is brilliance, indeed. A wonderful look into the motivations and personality of the man who knows both John and Sherlock and decides, for the sake of all good things, that this is a combination that needs to happen.

And the seventh one has drownéd thee.

Sherlock and slash, but the rating is high because the story is the most elegant and wonderful kind of darkfic imaginable. This is what genius can do when blending folklore and fanfic. Do mind the warnings -- but read it anyway! (Because I shouldn't be the only one whose brain is spinning.)

Had a wonderful Christmas, spent with a friend, decorating a tree, eating turkey, watching a movie and going out to see the pretty lights. (oooh, ahhhh!) And then spent this morning adding a bunch of treats to Yuletide Madness before the archive for that closes.

And yay, the static page URLS are going to stay good! So I can start compiling my Yuletide recs.

First of all, of course, is the story that was written for me.

In this house, everything is twice, a lovely atmospheric piece based on the Green Knowe books by L. M. Boston. I adore this fic to pieces. It has the most amazing detail and descriptions in it, and an element of ambiguity that lets me reread and reread without ever quite deciding what has happened. I'd say it's haunting, but somehow that word is never quite appropriate for Green Knowe. Beautiful beautiful beautiful, and I am overwhelmingly grateful to the person who wrote it for me.

But that's not the only good fic in the collection. Here's the list of all the fandoms if you want to browse, and of course I'll add my favorites below as I find them. (Now that I have time to read!)

read on, oh, my brave hearts! )
